A popular and a meaningful way in which a child can be welcomed into the family and close community. It is a time when family and friends come together to celebrate the birth of a baby or welcome adopted or stepchildren. It recognises the roles of parents as well as Grandparents and Guardians.
Welcome ceremonies are created not only to welcome a new baby and celebrate their naming they can include the welcome of an adopted child and also the extending of a family. This ceremony is directed to either the children or the parent/s as a welcome and acceptance to the family as a whole.
